Wind sweeps a rain line, whiting fields,
Then darkening. Sun smears brief gold.
This too shall pass.

A history of light and shadow,
Ever the same
And never the same.
This cyclical everlasting.

And I but a fleeting gasp,
Heart open wide as the vale
Horizon stretched and soaring high
With buzzard on rounded thermals.

Tears of clouds, soft sun lows,
This too shall pass.
